Breaking: Lalong Defeats Jerry Useni, Reelected Plateau State Governor

Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state has been re-elected for another four years.
The governor was declared the winner by the Returning Officer, Prof Richard Anande Kimbir, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue state.
He defeated other 23 candidates to become the winner of the keenly contested election.
Lalong, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the governorship election held on March 9, 2019 and supplementary election held on March 23, 2019 defeated his major rival, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, General Jerry Useni (Rtd) having polled highest number of valid votes.
The APC candidate polled 595, 582 to defeat the PDP candidate who scored 546, 813.
While making the declaration, Kimbir said, “Simon Lalong of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
According to Kimbir, total valid votes was 1, 159, 954; total rejected votes was 16, 188 while the total votes cast stood at 1, 176, 142.
