Kidnapping: Mob Attack Oluwo’s Palace in Osun

Irate mob on Monday attacked the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi to vent their anger over the rescue of a notorious suspected kidnapper who was kept safe in the palace.

CityMirrorNews learnt that the suspected female kidnapper was apprehended by the locals when she lured a child to a corner and attempted to kidnap the little child.

An eyewitness said within a twinkle of an eye, a huge crowd gathered attempted to lynched the suspect.

 The kidnapper was eventually rescued by some people who took her to the palace of Oluwo and prevented her from being lynched, it was learnt.

But the rescue of the suspected kidnapper did not go down well with the mob, instigating them to descend on the palace and attempted to set it ablaze.

CityMirrorNews gathered that the monarch called the Commissioner of Police, Mr Femi Oyeleye to report the incident.

The traditional ruler was said to have told the CP that he was not safe, a report that prompted the police boss to move to Iwo from Osogbo instantly.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relation Officer for Osun State Police Command, Mr Ajibade Egbedele who went to Iwo along with the CP said minimum force was used to disperse the mob.

The PPRO denied the report that someone was shot dead by policemen that dispersed the mob. He said that the situation has been brought under control and the matter would be properly investigated.
