1,000 Osun Residents To Benefit From Akin Ogunbiyi Free Medical Mission
No fewer than 1,000 residents across the 31 Local Governments and Area Office in Osun State will benefit from the first phase of a free medical expedition sponsored by Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi under the auspices of Idera De Movement (IDM).
This was contained in a press statement signed and made available to journalists in Osogbo, the state capital on Sunday by Comrade Ismail Afolabi, the press secretary to Dr. Ogunbiyi – a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to the statement, the free medical mission was designed not only to screen for common diseases and treat primary health conditions but also to create a health consciousness and improve healthy behaviour and practices among the people of the state.
The exercise is slated for 8th September, 2018 at Ile-Ogbo town hall, Ile-Ogbo in Ayedire local government area of the state, and to be coordinated by competent medical professionals from 8 am to 4pm. The zero cost health services also include free medication as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
“In as much as there are a lot of individuals in our State who do not know the status of their health, a poor state of health is a significant hindrance to achieving our life dreams and ambitions.”
“Consequently, Dr. Ogunbiyi who had in his avowed vision for the state promised to give succour to Osun people, established the IDM and initiated the medical mission to provide free healthcare services to Osun residents.”
“In all, the mandates of the IDM is to create socio-economic opportunities, promote community development and participation as well as enhance value re-orientation in the state.”
“Aside Health, it’s other focus areas are: Education, Agriculture and Entrepreneurship. No Osun people, irrespective of their political affiliation would be left out of the state-wide movement and its intervention programmes while the training of 10,000 Volunteers who indicated interest in the IDM will commence soon,” the statement revealed.
