Group Insists Ogunbiyi Must Contest as they Scouts New Party for Him
Akin Ogunbiyi Fundamental Group (AOFG) has expressed readiness to scout and get gubernatorial ticket for Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, saying he is one material whose virtues and political sophistication should not be missed by Osun people.
The group stated this in a press release signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Ajibade Adebowale and Alhaja (Hon) Khadijat Alabi respectively today, Wednesday in Osogbo, Osun state capital.
The group said the decision to field Ogunbiyi under a different party aside the PDP was reached “after hours of meetings by major stakeholders in the affairs of Osun state”.
Ogunbiyi contested the last Osun governorship primary election of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, where he was defeated by 7 votes by Senator Ademola Adeleke in what he described as a “manipulated election”.
According to the group, their decision is stemmed on what they called the “win win” body language of some people within Senator Ademola Adeleke’s camp. Also, the strategy of time wasting deployed by these people in the ongoing negotiations, they said, it’s to the disadvantages of Ogunbiyi.
They noted that events, particularly, after the Abuja brokered peace reveals the Adeleke group are not ready to let go certain position the same way they are not committed to the terms of agreement reached at the peace meeting.
“Those people, according to the release, insisted on winners takes all as they said they couldn’t trust anybody from Ogunbiyi’s camp to deputise Ademola Adeleke” they said.
“Recall the Deputy Governorship position, among others, was ceded in the agreement to Akin Ogunbiyi’s camp”.
The group insisted that “Ogunbiyi’s profile speaks volume for him and this is why they have decided to support his governorship aspiration to a logical end. More so, the group said that survey conducted reveals that the good people Osun are yearning for him above other candidate”.
