2019: If Buhari Reelected Nigeria’s struggle’ll Continue-Fadahunsi
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Osun state, Prince Francis Fadahunsi, has called on Nigerians to reject the second term bid of President Mohammadu Buhari, saying “it is obvious Mr. President has reached his peak.”
The ex Customs boss, who spoke in Ilase Ijesa, on the sideline of thanksgiving service held at the Anglican Church for the commencement of 2018 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State council, which he facilitated, said the country may never witness any development under the watch of President Buhari, because he could do better than what the country has witnessed in the last three years.
Fadahunshi averred: “It is one thing to have good intention, it is another thing to have capacity to deliver. I believe most past Nigerian leader harboured bad intentions before getting to office, but circumstances, in most cases will overwhelm them.
“In the case of Buhari, Nigerians should allow the man to rest. He can’t do better than what we have witnessed in the last three years. Crises in the land has overstretched our security forces. We should pray that the country should not witness external aggression.
“Mr. President does not appear like he knows what to do again. With the situation Nigeria is in right now, our President has reached his peak. Let him just retire home in peace. Nigerians should not reelect him in 2019.”
If Buhari is reelected, according to Fadahunsi, “the struggle continues and the sufferings continue. This is because if you go back to 1983, we knew what we suffered. Again, in the last three years, we have been in it and another four years would be a disaster because there are lot of crises around and in Nigeria.
“The security of the nation was not as bad as this when President Muhammadu Buhari took over. The herdsmen did not come from Libya then. They are everywhere now. The rampaging herdsmen should be flushed out, but if you cannot flush them out, then there is a systemic failure. If we allow Buhari to govern Nigeria for another four years again, then we would be in more serious crises.
“My prayer is that God should lead Nigeria to its glory land. For now, the Fulani herdsmen we are talking about are here. If there is just slightest problem, you will see them with their guns. The Police said people with illicit firearms should surrender them, but let me ask you, are the Fulani herdsmen surrendering their Ak 47 rifles? I pray that God will intervene in Nigeria.
“Unfortunately the cabals have taken over the media. The journalists are being paid by these cabals, except some of you, who are bold enough to talk and put your lives on the line.
“But, it’s the duty of the media to educate the people to collect their PVC. Then, if at the end of the day, they collect their PVCs and they vote massively against any person like what happened during the by-election for Osun West Senatorial District, peoples’ wish may prevail”, Fadahunshi said.
On the 2019 and the chances of the opposition party, the PDP Senatorial camdidate for Osun East in the 2015 general election, said “the PDP remain the only viable option for Nigerians to salvage the country from social and economic challenges. Our party stands better chance of winning the presidential poll in 2019 and other elections”.
