Cleric Calls On Traditional Leaders To Protect Their Territories Against Invasion Of Killer Hersdsmen

The Diocese Bishop of Osun state Revd. Dr. Isaac Oluyamo has called on traditional rulers in the Southern part of the country to rise against killer herdsmen from invading Yoruba land.

Bishop Oluyamo make the admonition on Sunday during a thanksgiving service to herald the activities marking the 2018 press week of Osun Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Ilase-Ijesa, Ijesa, Osun State.

He said, monarchs are representatives of God on the earth and so they must secure life and property of people.

He urged all traditional rulers from the southwest to make sure they block invasion of suspected killer herdsmen in the region.

According to the clergy, “the excesses of killer herders are becoming unbearable and we must all rise against invasion and attacks. We should not allow them to invade our land

“There is need for all Yoruba speaking people, the traditional rulers to resist these people from invading our land. We should all rise to defend ourselves.”

However, he appealed to all the monarchs to empower youth by providing land that is good for agriculture.

He pleaded to the journalist to use their power to fight against unlawful practice of herdsmen to safeguard lives and property.

He emphasized the need for journalists to stand firm and use the power of their profession to cease the operations of herdsmen in Nigeria.

He therefore charged citizens to register for voter card, and participate fully in the forth coming election in the state.

Speaking, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Abiodun Olalere appreciated the clergyman and congregation for their hospitality.
