Plateau Politicians United To Welcome Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Jos today for a 2-Day official working visit.
When he touched down at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipan, Jos South Local Government Area, key players in Plateau politics were on hand to receive him.
The visit was significant because it helped to unite politicians from different parties including the main opposition, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Action Democratic Party, ADP and other opposition party members.
Among Plateau politicians at the airport was the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Jonah Jang who is the leader of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the state. Similarly, at the airport was a PDP Chieftain, Hon Istifanus Gyang, member representing Riyom/Barkin Ladi Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
The executive governor of the state between 1999-2007, Senator Joshua Dariye who was elected as Senator in 2015 under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and later decamped to All Progressives Congress was also at the airport to receive Mr. President as well as the state Chairman of the Action Democratic Congress, ADP, Chief Nanyak Enoch Damian alongside his state executive members.
The array of opposition politicians at the visit was considered unprecedented.
Plateau state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati said, “The coming together of these politicians irrespective of their political differences is a clear demonstration of the hospitality of people of the state.
“It is also the demonstration of the maturity of an average plateau politicians, they knew quite well that President Buhari is their President irrespective of the political parties and they felt they owe it a duty to give Mr. President a resounding welcome. You can never find this kind of rare hospitality anywhere in Nigeria”.
“Many people are wondering at the coming together of these politicians considering the fact that they have been at each others throat.
