Breaking: Oyo Assembly Passes Vote Of No Confidence On Edu Comm, Olowofela
The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed a vote of no confidence on the state commissioner for Education Professor Adeniyi Olowofela for disregarding the assembly.
The house made the decision when commissioner appeared before the lawmakers over the allegations levelled against the ministry of education on some abnormalities in the home grown school feeding Programme in the state.
The Speaker, Hon Michael Adeyemo and other lawmakers in an unanimous decision described the attitude of Professor Olowofela to the house as barbaric and which resulted in them passing a vote of no confidence on him.
In the report submitted to the plenary by the ministry of education, it advised the assembly in its conclusion that a mover of the motion should carry out elementary investigations, not statements that will mislead the citizenry and portend the house as being hasty in decision making.
This statement by the ministry of education generated furious reactions from the lawmakers before the house allowed the commissioner and his entourage to take their leave.
They however promised to officially report the commissioner to Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
In a chat with journalists, the commissioner for education Professor Adeniyi Olowofela said the lawmakers did not allow him to respond to the allegations levied against his ministry over the home grown school feeding Programme.
