2027: El-Rufai Directs Supporters to Back ADC Candidates
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has directed his supporters to vote for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across all levels in the 2027 general elections.
The directive was disclosed by the party’s North-West Vice Chairman, Hafsat Baba, during a coalition meeting of support groups loyal to the former governor in Kaduna State.
Baba said El-Rufai urged his supporters to remain united, peaceful and law-abiding while mobilising support for the ADC ahead of the elections.
According to her, the directive covers the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas.
She explained that the meeting was organised to unite the various support groups and coordinate their activities in preparation for the polls.
Baba also disclosed that the coalition planned to establish a database of El-Rufai’s supporters across the state and maintain regular engagements to strengthen its mobilisation efforts.
She said the supporters were committed to sustaining what they considered the former governor’s legacy, particularly in education, healthcare and empowerment.
The ADC chieftain, however, expressed concern over insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, specifically citing Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Millennium City.
She called on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property, stressing the need for improved security across affected communities.
Baba also alleged that more than 30 supporters of El-Rufai had been arrested about two weeks before the meeting.
She questioned what she described as repeated arrests of the former governor’s loyalists and urged security agencies to remain impartial and operate within the provisions of the Constitution.
The development signals efforts by El-Rufai’s political support groups to consolidate their structures under the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
