Oyebamiji Kept Promise Despite Election Loss, Osogbo Plank Dealers Say

The Ifelodun Plank Dealers Association, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, Osun State, has commended the former APC governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, for fulfilling his promise to rehabilitate damaged culverts, retaining walls and drainage channels in the market.

The association said the intervention would help protect traders, shops and goods from the recurring threat of flooding and erosion, which had caused significant damage in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the association, its Chairman and Secretary, Pa Joseph Olabode and Mr Olatunde respectively, expressed appreciation to Oyebamiji for responding to their concerns.

They recalled that the damaged drainage channels and retaining walls had previously caused serious flooding in the market, putting the businesses and properties of plank dealers at risk.

According to them, Oyebamiji made the promise to address the problem when he visited the market during his campaign for the governorship election.

The traders expressed particular appreciation that he fulfilled the promise despite losing the election, describing the gesture as evidence of his commitment to the welfare of the people.

“We, members of the Ifelodun Plank Dealers Association, wish to sincerely thank and appreciate our own APC governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, for keeping to his promise,” they said.

The dealers explained that they had specifically requested the construction of the drainage infrastructure during Oyebamiji’s campaign visit, adding that he assured them that the problem would be addressed.

“We specifically requested this when he came to visit us during the electioneering. He promised to build it, and today, he has built it. Even after the whole thing that happened in the election, he still fulfilled his promise without delay. This is a promise made, a promise kept,” they said.

They added that the intervention came at a critical period, as heavy rainfall, flooding and erosion posed serious threats to their businesses and livelihoods.

The plank dealers said the newly rehabilitated drainage walls and culverts had provided them with relief and greater confidence that their shops and goods would be protected from further destruction caused by flooding and erosion.
