Hardship: Return To God, Seek Forgiveness, Oluwo Urges Nigerians

Political leaders, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), traditional institutions and residents of Iwo Federal Constituency on Wednesday held a commendation session for Peculiar Ultimate Concern Ltd, the contractor handling the reconstruction of the Osogbo-Ibadan Road, while also using the gathering to mobilise support for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Speaking at the event held at Iwo, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and insisted that Iwo people should align themselves with political power for the sake of development.

“We are going to where we believe power is, not where they will give us peanuts. Anywhere I go, you people should follow me because it is for your future. Wherever Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wants me to go, I will go because he has done so well, and anyone he asks us to support is who we will support,” the monarch said.

The royal father also urged residents to vote for candidates they considered competent and capable of improving their lives, saying voters should carefully assess all aspirants before making their decisions at the polls.

Beyond his political remarks, the monarch raised concerns over the growing wave of election-related violence in Osun State, particularly following reports of recent killings.

According to him, no election is worth the loss of human lives, as he appealed to politicians and their supporters to embrace peace before, during and after Saturday’s governorship election.

“You cannot govern the dead. Politicians should sheath their swords because all Osun residents are our children. We don’t want any more bad news coming from our state,” he said.

The monarch warned that anyone found responsible for violence and the killing of innocent residents would face divine consequences, adding that traditional institutions would continue to advocate for peace across the state.

Earlier, former Osun West APC senatorial candidate, Akin Ogunnbiyi, said the gathering was organised to appreciate President Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, for facilitating the reconstruction of the Osogbo-Ibadan Road.

Ogunnbiyi described the road as an important economic corridor that had been abandoned for more than 15 years, noting that the project had renewed hope among residents of Iwoland.

He said the road project demonstrated the benefits of remaining connected to the Federal Government, adding that residents should support the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to attract more developmental projects to the area.

According to him, the reconstruction contract was awarded to Peculiar Ultimate Concern Ltd, headed by Engineer Lanre Adeleke, an indigene of Iwo.

He called on residents of Iwo, Ayedire and Ola-Oluwa local government areas to vote massively for the APC in Saturday’s election.

Meanwhile, the project manager of Peculiar Ultimate Concern Ltd, Engineer Lekan Adeleke, appealed to residents to cooperate with workers throughout the construction period.

He acknowledged that traffic diversions associated with the project might cause temporary inconveniences but assured residents that adequate traffic management measures had been put in place.

He added that the road was being constructed to a standard that would guarantee durability for decades and expressed confidence that the project would be completed within schedule.
