Protest As Osun College Student Dies In Road Accident On Way To Pay School Fees

There is tension in Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State, following the death of a male final year National Diploma student of Interlink College Of Health Technology, identified as Oluwaseun, who was involved in a road accident.

Sources within the community said Adetifa, who was driving a motorcycl, was on his way back from a bank in Ilesa, where he went to pay his tuition, when he was hit by a Toyota Hummer Bus with registration number FST-644YL.

One of the sources who requested anonymity said the student died before he got to the hospital, noting that the development led to a protest by other students of the institution.

“The incident happened this morning. The school examination was to start this morning and Adeife wanted to go and pay his tuition fee in order to be eligible to write the exam but met his untimely death.

“The Hummer Bus hit him and efforts to rescue him proved abortive as he died before he could reach the hospital. I heard his parents are aware and he will be buried tomorrow.”

Addressing the protesting students, the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, Oba Moses Agunsoye, called for calm, noting that security agencies have been briefed on the matter and promised that justice will be served.

Meanwhile, the school management of has announced the temporary closure of the institution to honour the deceased.

In a statement signed by Mr. L. A. Balogun, on behalf of the school Registrar, urged the students to remain calm and prayerful during the difficult time.

“In honour of the departed student and as an act of condolence to the bereaved family and the entire school community, the institution has been temporarily closed.

“Students are hereby advised to remain calm and prayerful during this difficult time. Academic activities will resume on Tuesday, 19th May, 2026,” the statement partly read.
