Suspected gunmen have reportedly invaded a government-owned health facility in Akure, the Ondo State capital, abducting six workers on duty in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident was said to have occurred around 2:00 a.m. at a Primary Health Centre located in the Oke Ijebu area of the city, directly opposite Mega School.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers stormed the facility in a large bus, forcefully gaining entry before rounding up all health personnel present at the time.

A patient at the centre, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the assailants took away six staff members, including some interns, without resistance.

The source added that the victims were herded into the waiting vehicle, after which the gunmen fled the scene to an unknown destination.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

The development has left residents of the area in fear, with many calling for urgent intervention by security operatives to secure the release of the abducted workers.

Efforts to obtain further details were ongoing, as security agencies have reportedly intensified efforts to track down the perpetrators.
