By Our Reporter
As anticipation builds toward the March 29, 2026 premiere of “AVANTE,” excitement is sweeping across Nollywood, with many already hailing the film as a bold step forward in the evolution of African cinema.
At the forefront of the buildup is Kingsley Okafor, one of the film’s central figures, who has warmly welcomed colleagues, industry stakeholders, and film enthusiasts ahead of what is widely expected to be a landmark event. He described “AVANTE” as a reflection of Nollywood’s growing creative ambition and rising production standards.
Produced by AfriSQuare Entertainment, the project has drawn commendation for both its scale and execution. Okafor noted that bringing such a vision to life required not just technical precision but a deep commitment to storytelling as a vehicle for cultural expression and societal impact.
The film boasts a strong ensemble cast led by Chimezie Imoh, whose performance in The Breath of Life earned recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. Okafor himself features prominently, building on his critically acclaimed role in Marriage Stunts, where he demonstrated remarkable emotional depth.
Also starring are Patience Ujah, known for Halita and Eagle Wings; Eddie Watson, acclaimed for The Waiter; and Ruth Nkweti, celebrated for her role in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free. Their combined presence adds both depth and cross-cultural appeal to the production.
Direction is handled by Toka McBaror, whose portfolio includes Dark October, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Kada River, and Lotanna. His reputation for delivering compelling, well-structured stories is expected to further elevate “AVANTE.”
With a gripping narrative that weaves together themes of revenge, love, justice, and destiny, the film is positioned as both emotionally engaging and thought-provoking. Industry observers have pointed to its strong storytelling and execution as key indicators of its potential to resonate widely with audiences.
As the premiere draws closer, conversations around “AVANTE” continue to intensify. For many, the film represents more than just another Nollywood release, it signals a growing confidence within the industry and a clear ambition to achieve greater global relevance.
Okafor remains optimistic that “AVANTE” will not only captivate viewers but also mark the beginning of a new chapter in African filmmaking, showcasing the depth, talent, and creative strides emerging from the continent.
