Two Suspected Robbers Arrested With Toy Gun In Ondo
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers during a stop-and-search operation in Akure, recovering a toy gun allegedly used to perpetrate crimes.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the operation was carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal.
Identifying the suspects as Simeon George and Moses Daniel, the police officer noted that they were apprehended in the early hours of March 15, 2026, around the Oba-Ile axis of the state capital.
Jimoh revealed that the arrest was made during a joint operation involving police operatives and members of a local vigilante group conducting routine security checks.
He added that a search of the suspects led to the recovery of a toy gun and a headlamp concealed in their bag.
According to the police, preliminary interrogation showed that the suspects failed to give a satisfactory explanation about the items, raising suspicion over their intentions.
The spokesperson further noted that the suspects had been taken into custody, while the case has been transferred to appropriate quarters for further investigation, adding that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
