The Victory Support Foundation has extended its free medical outreach to Ileogbo in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State, addressing what it described as critical gaps in local healthcare where many primary health centres are understocked with essential medications.
The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Ambassador Olubunmi Oluwafunmilayo Lawal, also known as BUMAC, emphasized that the initiative aims to provide accessible medical care to grassroots communities without imposing financial burdens.
Speaking at the event, which took place at Ileogbo city hall, Bumac highlighted the foundation’s research into local healthcare challenges.
“We conducted inquiries across several local governments before coming to this location, and we found that many primary healthcare centres lack sufficient medication,”
“The primary goal of bringing this programme directly to the residents is to ensure they receive proper testing and treatment.” Bumac said.
Bumac also noted that the programme aligns with broader efforts to enhance grassroots health in collaboration with the Southwest Progressive Group, expressing gratitude for their pivotal support in making the event a success.
Appreciating the gusture, Alhaji Hon Taofeeq Lawal, representing Ward 2 in Ayedire Local Government, described it as a commendable effort to improve residents’ health.
“Health is wealth, We appreciate the organisers for their dedication to bettering the health of people in Ayedire. We pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless them.” Hon Lawal said.
Lawal also advocated for electing capable leaders to advance the state’s economy, health, education, and infrastructure, underscoring Ayedire’s agricultural significance and the need for targeted development.
Engineer Adigun Adejare, Executive Chairman of Ayedire Local Government, echoed these sentiments, noting the relief it provides to those unable to afford medical services.
“Many people suffer from various ailments but lack the resources to seek care.”
“This programme has alleviated a significant burden for me, as residents often turn to me when their conditions deteriorate.” Adigun said.
However, Adigun raised concerns about the dilapidated state of primary healthcare facilities, pointing to a lack of equipment and insufficient staffing as ongoing issues.
Hon. Leke Ogunsola, a pharmacist and former two-term member of the Osun State House of Assembly, hailed the outreach as a vital intervention for local needs.
“As a pharmacist and politician from this area, I understand our people’s health requirements intimately”.
“What the foundation has delivered today will bring joy to many, because health is indeed wealth”, Ogunsola said.
Hon. Bisi Ogunkale, former Senior Special Assistant on Budget and Planning to ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola, commended the programme’s inclusivity.
“It’s a laudable initiative that benefits our fathers, mothers, youth, and elderly alike, and we sincerely thank the founder and the Southwest Progressive Group for extending this to our community.” Ogunkale said.
