A non governmental organisation, Victory Support Foundation has called for competent and people-oriented leadership in Osun State, urging the government to prioritize citizens’ welfare and prudent management of resources.
Founder and CEO of the foundation, Ambassador Olubunmi Olufunmilayo Lawal (BUMAC), made the call, on Sunday, during a community engagement and free medical outreach held in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
CityMirrorNews reports that the free medical outreach was sponsored by South West Progressive Group.
Lawal said Osun needs a governor who listens to public needs, promotes development, and places the people’s interests above political gain.
“Osun needs a governor who is intelligent, a listener to public demands, and a builder, not one who will squander public funds or dance around while neglecting the masses,” she said.
“We believe Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) has proven himself as a capable leader with a track record of excellence during his tenure as Commissioner for Finance.”
She added that the foundation’s activities are centered on improving lives through humanitarian services such as medical outreach, empowerment programs, and business grants.
“Our mission is to wipe tears off the faces of humanity. Through this free medical check-up, we’re not just offering healthcare, we’re demonstrating compassion and supporting good leadership,” she added.
The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Chief Barrister Adegoke Ogunsola, commended the foundation for combining advocacy for good governance with community service.
“You can see people receiving medical attention and counselling. This is commendable and shows true leadership at work,” he said.
Also speaking, Chief Olaitan Bashiru Adewale, the Olu of Apiponroro, who represented the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan, appreciated the organisers for prioritising the health and welfare of residents.
“Many residents have received medical attention for eye problems and other ailments. On behalf of our monarch, we thank AMBO and the foundation for this thoughtful gesture,” he said.
A beneficiary, Mr. Ologunde Ademola, expressed gratitude, noting that the intervention made a real difference.
“I found it difficult to read before, but after being attended to and given eyeglasses, I can now read properly. We are grateful,” he said.
