Sokoto Assembly Holds Prayer Session For Buhari, Adjourns Sitting Till July 21
Sokoto State House of Assembly on Wednesday held a special prayer session in for former President Muhammadu Buhari who passed away on Sunday in a London hospital at the age of 82.
Speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Tukur Bala, who presided over the session, said that the occasion was to pray for the repose of the late former President.
Bala described Buhari as a national hero who dedicated his lifetime to the service of Nigeria and its people.
According to him, with Buhari’s death, Nigeria has lost a great leader, elder statesman and incorruptible citizen, whose exemplary life is worthy of emulation by not only Nigerians but people across the globe.
“Buhari was a father and leader who deserves more than just commendation. His lifestyle remains a role model for all citizens to embrace.
“We miss him dearly and will forever cherish his mentorship and unwavering commitment to building the Nigeria we all desire,” he said.
The Speaker also extended the Assembly’s condolences to Buhari’s immediate family, his friends, associates, the Emir of Daura, the government and people of Katsina State and Nigerians at large.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Assembly adjourned its sitting till July 21 to mourn the late former President.
Buhari’s remains were laid to rest on Tuesday at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.
