President Muhammadu Buhari Was An Enigma Of Principle In An Age Of Expediency- Omoworare
Former Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Babajide Omoworare, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former President, describing him as “a national icon and a great brand Nigeria has lost.”
In a statement issued in Osogbo, Senator Omoworare said the news of Buhari’s death has left him and millions of Nigerians heartbroken, noting that the late President embodied integrity, courage, and disciplined leadership throughout his decades of public service.
“This loss is deeply personal. I had the honour of serving closely with him and witnessing firsthand his commitment to the Nigerian project.
He was not just a leader; he was a moral compass in governance,” Omoworare said.
The former Senator from Osun East described Buhari as “an enigma of principle in an age of expediency,” highlighting his contributions to national unity, infrastructure development, the anti-corruption war, and the restoration of Nigeria’s global image.
He commiserated with the Buhari family, particularly his widow, Dr. Aisha Buhari, and their children, praying that God would grant them strength and peace in this time of grief.
Omoworare also extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and all Nigerians across political, ethnic, and religious divides.
“Let us immortalize President Buhari not just in statues and tributes, but in our daily commitment to integrity, accountability, and patriotic service. That is the best honour we can give him,” the statement added.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the former President’s soul and called on Nigerians to remain united in upholding the ideals for which Muhammadu Buhari lived and led.
“Adieu Baba. You served Nigeria with honour. You lived a life of sacrifice. May Allah (SWT) grant you Al-Jannah Firdaus,” Omoworare concluded.
