Reward To Whistle Blowers, A moral Booster- Oyintiloye
A Member of the Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has commended the Federal Government on its sincerity on the implementation of whistleblowing policy through instant reward.
Oyintiloye in an interview with the Newsmen on Wednesday in Osogbo said the N 375.8 million reward paid by FG to 20 whistleblowers would serve as a moral booster in recovering looted funds.
He said the payment was a clear signal that President Muhamadu Buhari’s administration was committed to the fight against corrupt practices in the country.
Oyintiloye, who is the Chairman House Committee on information and Strategy, said the payment would encourage others who have information on looted funds to ‘ blow the whistle ‘.
” I really want to commend the president for keeping to his words under the whistle blowing reward policy.
” This show that the Mr President is sincere in the fight against corruption in the country”
” And without mincing words, this first batch of reward under the policy would encourage other people with useful information to come out to blow the whistle on stolen funds. “.
Oyintiloye also commended the Federal Government for protecting the identity of information provider, saying this would also serve as an assurance for others whistleblowers that their identity would be protected.
He urged patriotic Nigerians to continue to support the government in its effort to sanitise the country from corruption.
Oyintiloye, however, urged Nigerians not to lose hope, saying better days is close by.
It will be recalled that the Federal Government on Wednesday said it had paid N 375. 8m to 20 whistleblowers , who provided information that led to the recovery of N 11. 6bn.
The Director of Information , Mr Salisu Dambatta in a statement on in Abuja , said that the payment was only for recovered assets that had been declared free of legal disputes or litigation by the Attorney-General of the Federation
