UNIOSUN Lecturer Wins UI's Best Doctoral Thesis Award

A lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies, Osun State University, Dr. Folorunsho Emmanuel Awoniyi on Monday bagged the Best Doctoral Thesis Award at the University of Ibadan’s 76th convocation ceremony.

Dr Awoniyi’s thesis, “A Phonological Study of Selected Yoruba English Broca’s Aphasics at the University College Hospital, Ibadan,” scored 70.7%, topping 62 entries from Arts and Humanities-based disciplines.

Accompanied by a ₦500,000 cash prize and a commemorative plaque, the prestigious award recognises Dr Awoniyi’s exceptional scholarship and research impact.

He attributed the feat to God’s guidance throughout his PhD journey and thanked the management of the University of Ibadan for upholding academic excellence.

He also expressed his gratitude to Osun State University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Odunayo Adebooye, for providing a supportive environment.

His words, “I give all glory, honour, and adoration to God Almighty for His divine wisdom and inspiration that guided me throughout my Ph.D. journey.”
