EFCC Arraigns Osun APC Leader, College of Education Bursar, Director Over N.3billion Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the Osun West Senatorial Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Yinusa Amobi, former Provost and Registrar of the Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun, Messrs , Dr. Basiru Gbadamosi and Mr Akin Latilo respectively before a Federal High Court in Osogbo.
Other arraigned were members of the Governing Council of the College, Mr David Olayinka Olojede, Mr Kujeunbola Oluwafemi and the College’s Director of Works, Mr Ogungbemi.
Latilo is now the registrar of the Osun State College of Education, Ilesa.
The suspects were arraigned for their alleged involvement in the N300m fraud that rocked the college.
When the charge sheet was read to them, the accused persons who had no lawyer pleaded not guilty to the 8-count charge bordering on stealing, forgery and conspiracy.
The alleged offences were contrary to Section 1(1)(a) &8(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act and Section 98,99 and 516 of the Criminal Code Act Cap,Laws of the Federation.
EFCC was represented by Barrister Chukwu Emeka.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Onyetenu, ordered the accused persons to be remanded in Ilesa prison till May 31, 2017 for considering of bail.
The arraignment was as a result of a Petition dated March 21, 2016 written by the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS) to the Acting Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magun.
The group alleged that of the sum N170m first payment released to the Sky Bank, Ring Road Ibadan branch Account Number:1771403093 for the Digitpro Engineering Technology Ltd, Ibadan, being the part of mobilization fees for the construction of a Lecture Theatre (Amphittheatre), a sum of N41,093,694.36 on March 4, 2014 was diverted to the Fidelity Bank Plc Account Number:5600078243 with Cheque Number:00000005 of De Capstone Ltd.
