FG Tasked On Wealth Creation

A former Minister of Defence, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode has said that the creation of wealth through agriculture and Medium and Small Scale industries would reduce criminality and shore up the Internally Generated Revenue of the tiers of government in the country.

The former minister disclosed this in Akure, Ondo state capital while meeting with industrialists in order to encourage the formation of Akoko Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Kayode, who is the President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) said the government should demarcate industrial zones in all the 774 Local Governments in the country.

His words, “Creating small scale industry will surely keep our youths out of criminal activities if not total wipe -off, and make our society a better place of living.

“Federal Government should direct the states to key into the agriculture sector and add value to our export commodities a situation where we export raw cocoa abroad should be discouraged. We should add value to our timber.”

According to him, Kayode said one of the ways to curb crime is for the youths to have employment which could be achieved through agro-business.

He also tasked the Federal Government to toe the line of Organized Private Sector (OPS) and sign the free trade zone agreement with other governments of the African countries.

“Nigerians are in many African countries doing businesses. There are more Nigerians in foreign countries than foreigners in Nigeria. Signing the agreement would be of tremendous benefits to Nigerians in other African countries”, Kayode said.

He however tasked state governments all over the federation to support and encourage chambers of commerce in their respective states as a way of promoting prosperity and wealth creation.
