NUJ Inter Chapel Soccer Competition: OSBC, Uniq FM zoom To The Quarter Finals

The football teams of OSBC, Uniq FM and State Information today progressed to the quarter finals of the 2018 NUJ Inter Chapel Soccer Competition following their respective easy rides over their opponents.

The ‘lucky trio’ had a walk in the park as their opponents failed to honour the games, leading to a walk over for each of the teams.

The matches, slated for the former Fakunle Grammar School, along Gbongan Ibadan road Osogbo saw OSBC, State Information and star-studded Uniq FM present their formidable teams in readiness for the competition meant for the fourth estate of the realm.

Speaking with newsmen at the venue of the match, Chairman of the Osun Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Abiodun Olalere expressed dissatisfaction for some chapels not to honour the games, adding that it is important for all chapels to participate actively in all activities of the Council.

Mr Olalere however appealed to participating chapels to follow the rules guiding the competition to the letter and accept the result in good faith.

He also advised members of the sport committee to remain firm in their decisions in other not to defeat the objectives of the competition.

With the results, Uniq FM will meet State Information Chapel in the quarter finals of the competition next week while OSBC awaits the winner between Osun Defender and Federal Information chapels.

The competition continues tomorrow afternoon with Rave FM squaring up against Local Government Chapel in the first game while Federated Chapel will trade tackles with NTA Chapel in the second match.
