The group, in a congratulatory message by its spokesman, Comrade Sodiq Olajide, in Osogbo on Friday commended the governor-elect and all APC supporters “for the hard-fight victory after a dignified campaign”.

Oranmiyan urged Oyetola and party members to be magnanimous in victory as “the incoming administration prepares to unfold a new lease of life for the people of Osun State through purposeful and responsible governance”.

The group lauded the people of Osun for their matured and peaceful conduct as they made their choice using the power of the ballot.

It also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for adequate preparations and for displaying impartiality throughout the process.

The group commended the security agencies for creating the right atmosphere for the relatively peaceful conduct of the polls and urged them to sustain the peace.

They also commended local and international observers and monitors for their vigilance and contributions towards the relatively hitch-free exercise.

The group therefore urged those who lost in the contest to be gallant in conceding defeat and use constitutional means to settle whatever grievances they may have rather than resorting to self-help.

It further appealed to all stakeholders in Osun to work towards a successful transition to a new administration “in the higher interest of not only the State but the entire nation and its fledgling democratic experience”.

City Mirrow recalls that Oyetola, a former Chief of Staff to the Governor Rauf Aregbesola was on Thursday declared winner of the election by Prof Joseph Fiwape, the Chief Returning Officer for the poll.

Fiwape who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, announced that Oyetola polled 255,505 to defeat PDP candidate, Adeleke who polled 255, 023.
