It Was Devil Spirit Put Me To Stab My Girlfriend To Death, Says 24yr old Man

A 24-year old, Saliu Ladayo who killed his 19 year old girlfriend, Confidence Nwama in Oshinle Area of Akure, Ondo State capital was not regretting his act, blaming that it was devil spirit put him to do so.

It would be recalled that Saliu had earlier last week killed his girlfriend, Confidence Nwama over an argument arose between them which was resulted to death.

Saliu, who was paraded along side other suspects on Friday at the Police Headquarters, was shedding tears while narrating to newsmen how he stabbed his girlfriend to death. Asked for forgiveness.

His words, “After she back from his West African Examination, people on the street told her that I came with another woman. She was so annoyed with that and she came to my place on Saturday last week. She was talking to me that what is the meaning of it that a girl came to her that I came to ask her out.

“She started cursing me that if I make love with another girl, that I won’t make it in life. I was now talking to her that why will she lay curse on me. I told her I can’t do that and I return the curse back to her. She left with annoyance,”.

He further said: “She back on May 15th, 2018 I ask her to forgive me and we are talking and I said she should return the curse and she said she can’t do that and I seized his phone and we were both inside dragging the phone. I was begging her to return the curse and she went out to tell one of our neighbor that I seized her phone and the woman came to ask me. I told the woman what she did and the woman left to call second neighbor, before she (neighbour) come back, I don’t know what came over me, I went to take knife and stabbed her to death.”

Others suspects that were arrested are three-man gang for allegedly beheading one Olawale Gbogi, a commercial motorcyclist, popularly called ‘Okada’.

While parading them, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Joseph said the victim was killed at Ihima in Kogi State.

While giving the name of the three suspects as; Abdulahi Sheu,Harruna Suberu and Onimisi Liberty, the spokesman noted that the victim was asked to take them to Ihima in Kogi State from Ikare Akoko in Ondo State for three thousand naira which he agreed.

Joseph disclosed that the victim upon getting to Ihima was directed towards a bush path where he was beaten and disposed of the motorcycle and his handset.

He added that Sheu, 21 years old took the victim’s motorcycle and the handset to Akure,the Ondo State capital to look for buyer,while Liberty, Haruna and one Rabiu who is at large allegedly killed and beheaded the victim.

He said immediately the command got the report, swung into action which led to the arrest of Sheu in Akure with the victim’s handset and the motorcycle

His words: “The head was allegedly taken in a polythene bag to the house of one Dada Alabi ,an herbalist by Onimisi Liberty but he (Dada) refused to take it from him. The head is said to be currently in possession of Rabiu, now at large, while the remaining body of the victim has not been found.

“Onimisi Liberty initially stated that his ‘Oga’ in Abuja One Alhaji Abdul Rama needed human head, and the head has been sent to him ,but when he met face to face with the said Alhaji Abdul Rama, he recanted his statement and instead said that the head is with Rabiu, who is now at large.

“Investigation in ongoing to recover both the head and other body parts of the victim while the suspects will soon appear in court.”

Joseph advised residents, especially commercial motorcyclists in the state to be mindful of those they engage in the course of their business transaction.

“It still baffles us how this young man will decide to leave Ikare Akoko for Okenne in Kogi State for just N3,000 business and what has happened to him is now history. It is very unfortunate,” Joseph said.

Also, four suspects were arrested by the police for the kidnapping of a four-year old boy Chidozie Nnanna Okafor along Ofosu, Ondo State.

After 18 days in captivity, the boy was released following the payment of Six Hundred Thousand Naira(N600,000) ransom by the parents.

One of the suspects, Efe John said: “It is true that we kidnapped the boy in Ofosu and we contacted his parent for ransom. They gave us six hundred thousand naira and we released the boy. Here we are today, we have been arrested by the police.”

The PPRO said the command’s intelligence gathering led to the arrest of the suspects; Efe John, Pius David Udoh, Justine Anthony and John Cletus adding they would be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation.
