Court Adjourns The Case Of Suspects Who Allegedly Defrauded, Stripped Osun Lawmaker

Suspected Members of a syndicate who allegedly blackmailed and swindled the majority leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye of the sum of thirty eight million naira were Wednesday returned to court amidst tight security.

The accused persons were brought into the court premises amidst heavy presence of armed prison officers and policemen.

For over one hour, the prison officials refused to bring the accused down from the Black maria with which they were conveyed to court to avoid journalists camera

Security personnel had a hectic time controlling hundreds of supporters of the lawmaker, who trooped to the court in solidarity with him.

Policemen and prisons guards locked the doors into the complex where the courtroom is located but supporters forced their way inside the complex but were stopped from entering into the courtroom.

Journalists who had come for the matter were also prevented from gaining access into the court room.

Our correspondent gathered from a court official that a man suspected to be sympathetic to the accused persons was stripped naked by some of the lawmaker’s supporters.

They lawmakers supporters were also angry that the accused persons were allowed to cover their faces while they were being marched into the courtroom by heavily armed prison officers.

It will be recalled that Mr Owoeye’s nude video went viral on Saturday where he was said to have been tricked and swindled by the blackmailers.

The nude video was said to be recorded to prevent him from reporting to the police that he was swindled.

As a result of the tensed situation, the matter could not go on, but the magistrate, Mr Segun Ayilara asked parties to take new date, as the suspects were returned to Ilesa prison

The accused persons, Kazeem Agbabiaka Ajetomobi, Abdudrasheed Ojonla, Adebiyi Kehinde , Femi Oyebode, Oyebamiji Oyeniyi, Ismaila Azeez. , Awodunmola Kehinde, Babatunde Oluajo were arraigned on a four count charge involving attempted murder and obtaining by pretense.
