APC Primary Election: Aspirant Calls For Peaceful Conduct

A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun state, Dr. Ismail Abiodun Saka Layonu (SAN) has urged party members to cast thier votes for him to emerge as the party candidate in the primary election slated for Friday, July 20.

In a statement he personally issued and made available to journalists on Thursday, Saka Layonu promised to continue to remain committed and loyal to the party and also abide by its constitution.

If emerge the party flagbearer, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria promised to ensure that there is peace in the party.

He however asked the party members and his supporters to be orderly and peaceful in their conduct before, during and after the primary saying they should ensure they come to the venue of Tuesday primary with their party membership cards and other evidence of membership to vote him.

The governorship hopeful said, “tomorrow, Friday, 20th July, 2018 is the day for the gubernatorial primary of our great Party.

“I urge you all to come out with your membership cards or slips or other evidence of party membership to vote for me, Dr. Ismail Abiodun Saka LAYONU SAN, as your preferred aspirant to emerge as the candidate of our great Party in the September 22, 2018 gubernatorial election.

“I urge you to be totally peaceful in your conduct. Do not let anyone provoke you into any disorderly or violent conduct.

“Please express me as your preferred choice with your votes and your votes only. I seize this opportunity to reiterate to you that I am, and remain, and will by God’s grace, remain a committed and loyal member of our great Party as enshrined in the Constitution of our Party.

“No matter the outcome of this exercise, whether perfect or otherwise, God’s will shall be done. I joined this great Party on my own volition as directed by Almighty God.

“I am not boycotting this primary exercise. I am not withdrawing my candidature or stepping down for anyone. I am a firm believer in democracy and in the people freely exercising their choice for all elective positions.

“Please remember all my promises, undertakings, sayings, statements and covenants to and with you during the course of my state wide Campaign and urge you to see me as the preferred aspirant of your choice that will emerge as our Party’s gubernatorial candidate and who will unite our great Party and will not be divisive.

“The desire to win is born in most of us. The will to win is a matter of training. The manner of winning is a matter of honour.” – Margaret Thatcher.

“I thank you all as you peacefully engage and participate in this historical exercise. Always remember, that the cardinal point is that the government of the State of Osun must remain in the hands of our great Party, the APC.”
