The new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Adeleye has said that Mobile Courts where traffic offenders will be prosecuted are to established soon across the eighteen local government areas of Ondo State.

He also frowned at the way timber trucks do carry excess load on the roads in the state and warned them to stop carrying excess load again for their own safety and the general public saying that “its unacceptable”.

Adeleye gave the disclosure at the Press Centre in Akure when he paid a familiarisation Visit to the state leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Ondo state Council.

The FRSC Commander noted that all necessary arrangements had been concluded and the state chief judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu had given an approval to the proper inauguration of the mobile courts.

According to him, he explained that the only traffic mobile court in Akure had not been functioning for many years, hence the need to set-up news courts in the state where FRSC personnel could be trying any road traffic offenders.

While also speaking on the complaint that FRSC officials are relating with journalists with impunity, Adeleye promised to improve hitherto soiled relationship between the Command and media professionals in the state, adding that the corps would be using more of corrective measures than punishments.

Responding, the Ondo state chairman of NUJ, Mr James Sowole who charged FRSC to intensify education of its regular marshals on how to deal with motorists in a civilized manner, pledged the readiness of media professionals in the state to support the new sector Commander to achieve safer roads.
