LG Boss, Benson Unfolds Blueprint For Economic Revival

The Chairman of Orolu local government in Osun state, Prince Adekunle Benson has made public his plans to revive the local economy of the local government area through skills acquisition and youth empowerment.

Speaking during the general meeting of the All Progressives Congress in Ifon Osun, the headquaters, Orolu local government council area, Benson said his vision was to fight poverty through empowerment so as to achieve the Governor Aregbesola vision in the local government area.

The Council Boss said that apart from capital, developmental and physical projects, there will be a total empowerment of youths, women and farmers as well as poverty alleviation programmes which will boost the economy to the extent that our teaming population of youths will be engaged and independent.

Benson who said that there is a cordial relationship among all the Parliamentarians as well as all political leaders urged the people of the council to continue to live in peace and harmony.

The Council boss revealed that on Poverty alleviation programme, 400 people will be empowered in Orolu local government in the first phase of the programme by randomly selecting 40 people from each ward with 10000 monthly stipend. This means that Orolu will be complimenting the effort of federal and the state of Osun government by injecting 4million naira monthly into the economy. Noting that those engaged through OYES, Npower, Civil service and party Excos will be totally exempted from the programme purposely to allow those that have not been doing or collecting anything to benefit.

The local government boss also warned party members and sympathizers not to be deceived by submitting themselves to those that believe in sharing of noodles to members as their empowerment programme.

According to him, “as we have promised to run a transparent government with full of accountability, we have told all the stakeholders the total allocation received from the state level and we do not believe in giving out fishes to people but our priority is to teach people how to fishing so that no one will be financially depending on others”.

Benson also enjoined the entire people of Orolu to support and cooperate with his administration so that unprecedented developmental projects will be experienced in all the nooks and crannies of Orolu.

” We have been working assiduously together with all Councillors to ensure dividends of democracy as well as giving back to the society in a way that no one will be marginalized “.

He therefore eulogized the governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for continually changing the faces of Osun to a brand new state, adding that history will never forget him.
