Child’s Right Violation Is Injurious To Humanity-JDPMC

A Non Governmental Organisation, Justice Development and Peace Makers’ Centre, JDPMC of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo has appealed to Nigerian Parents and other stakeholders in the country to always respect the laws of creation in the lives of Nigerian Children by strictly adhering to their rights as stipulated in the Constitution.

Speaking through The Head of Integrated Human Development Department, Mrs Juliet Akande, JDPMC during a rally tagged “Strengthening community based Child’s Rights in Ten Local Government Areas of Osun State” JDPMC, Osogbo said
violation of Child’s Rights was injustice to Humanity and worst misfortune against the laws of Creation.

“Children are God’s given Heritages and Gifts who are another nucleus Entity of Creatures having created Man and Women, therefore there is cogent need to be treated as such rather than appendages that deserve no honour.”

“Their existence is not by accident or after thought in the considered Assembly of Human creation, so it is a duty of parents and other well meaning stakeholders to always take cognisance of this fact by ensuring Child’s rights and their dignity are sustained.” She said.

Speaking, the programme officer Mrs. Damilola Arowolo explained that the Rally was aimed at washing clean an area of blackspot that was often attributed to poor African mentality in Child raising.

“There is no doubt that Africa is a wonderful Continent while Nigeria accolades as a great Nation, to every of the above mentioned Uniqueness there is always a dark spot that tarnishes the good sides.

“This is what we have come here to address today as part of efforts strengthening the existing law templates that have been created by Government.” She affirmed.

Mrs.Arowolo noted further that it was pertinent for all the Community Members most especially parents and expected ones to better educated, involved and thus rise against the culture of corporal punishment, inflicting body injuries, child Hawking during the school hours and trafficking of children in the society.

Corroborating the head of RUDEP department Mrs. Onalapo Morenike and Members of good Governance Committees in Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo Otin Local Government areas charged Nigerians to help Governments actualize the essence of Child’s Rights Law by reporting any case of Child’s rights violation in their Communities.
The participants at the rally thanked the Legal holder of JDPMC and Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, Most Reverend John Akin Oyèjọlá and the General Coordinator of JDMC, Reverend Father Peter Akinkunmi for creating enabling environment to protect The Child’s Rights.
