Hij’rah: Muslim Community Calls For Peaceful Governorship Election In Osun

The Muslim Community in Osun state has called for a free, fair and credible governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed September 22, 2018 for the conduct of the gubernatorial election in the state.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Osun Muslim Community to herald activities to mark this year Hi’jrah celebration, Alhaji Olawuyi Adeleke, the OSMC President, urged people of the state to desist from any activities capable of causing crisis befor, during and after the poll.

The theme for the Hij’rah 1440 A.H according to Adeleke is “Good Governance, Procedure, and Processes: Islamic Perspective” ,while the topic for colloquium would be “Election Malpractices: Causes, Effect And Islamic Solutions”.

The day he emigrated” from Makkah to Madina to set up his new social order some 1435 years ago.

Adeleke said Hij’rah event has a lot to do with the the coming election and the OSMC had been able to enlightened the Muslim faithful on the needs for free, fair ,and credible election.

He said Hij’rah celebration was to move people from what is bad to what is good and to also obey the teachings of the Prophets in the Holy Qur’an.

The OSMC president commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for choosing a day as an Holiday to mark the Hij’rah event and added that the day would be observed even after the tenure of Aregbesola’s administration.

He called on electorate to visit any INEC offices closed to them for the collection of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) .

Adeleke, however, said every Muslims would go out to vote for the best and he urged security agencies to allow the coming election be free, fair, credible, and peaceful.
