My Dear Chairman sir,

No doubt, the dust raised by the primary election of our great party has not really gone down and to be frank with ourselves, the September 22nd election will not be a walkover for us.

Prince Gboyega Famodun, Chairman, Osun APC

Sir, the saddest part of it is that despite the huge sacrifice made by our indefatigable governor; Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola despite paucity of funds to bring about unprecedented social, infrastructure and human capital developments, we still find ourselves in a corner like this where the achievements of Aregbesola’s administration will not speak for us at the poll but we will have to strategically campaign vigorously again, bury our ego, come down from our high horses, reconcile with ourselves genuinely and go to the election front as a United family, if truly we want to win this crucial election at this critical time when defections have become a strategic political factor.

Mr Chairman, as people are aligning and realigning, “the nothing is happening syndrome” that our party men and women are putting on is not the best for our great party. We learnt that reconciliation committe has been set up, who are the members? Are they the usual, regular, arrogant and rejected faces in our party? Who are they reaching out to? Are they reaching out to the people that matter or people that somebody paid for their nomination forms, or people that cannot win election or people that our people do not want to see? Do these people really understand the grievances of our people? Do they have what it takes to reconcile them? In their reconciliation meeting, what messages are they passing to the people? Is it a message of hope or rejection? Are their moves giving hopes or worsening matters?

These are some questions begging for answers among other things in my mind.

However sir, I do not intend to bother you too much with a long letter but permit to say that our chances to win the upcoming election now largely depends on who is our deputy governorship candidate and where he comes from. A release by Mr. Oyatomi yesterday indicated that the party is looking towards Osun West Senatorial District and combing Iwo town in particular for that purpose.

Mr. Chairman, I want to humbly disagree with such position because people of the West and Iwo in particular stated clearly that governorship is what they want now and not deputy and it will be very naive of us to believe that we can pacify or cajole them for votes with deputy governorship, no, not when they have Alhaji Moshood Adeoti & Alhaji Fatai Akinbade and their political parties on the ballots.

Sir, research shows that the people of the West are predominantly Muslims and in love with Alhaji Akinbade because of his human relationship and philanthropic gesture over the years, hence I can assure you sir with high sense of responsibilities, that the bulk of their
votes will be for Adeoti & Akinbade hence we would have wasted our deputy governorship slot.

PDP has picked its deputy governorship candidate from Ifeland and the ADP from Osogbo land, both candidates are from the West. Omisore Is from Ifeland and his SDP has not picked its deputy governorship candidate, it is obvious that Iyiola Omisore cannot be governor in Osun, hence Ife people will not waste their votes this time and the volume of their votes is important to us hence the need for us to beam our search light to Ifeland for our deputy governorship slot and zone the senatorial slot to Ijeshaland.

Mr. Chairman, let our party looks for young Christian with political experiences, right exposure, who is loyal to our party, who has won elections frequently before and who can support our governorship candidate among other stern qualities and nominate him as our deputy governorship candidate.

Conclusively Mr. Chairman, I want to say that this is the first governorship election under your watch and in as much as you will be nice to us; the great youths of our party, I pray you have your own governor as our dear governor is winding down.

I thank you for your rapt attention.
