Arsenal held by Hull in FA Cup after Eldin Jakupovic heroics
Arsenal were left frustrated as Championship side Hull City forced an FA Cup fifth-round replay after a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal, who beat Hull in the 2014 FA Cup final, had much the better of the game but were repeatedly denied by Hull keeper Eldin Jakupovic.
The hosts had an early chance when Mohamed Elneny’s shot struck Alex Bruce, while Danny Welbeck — making his first start since April — then saw two efforts saved by Jakupovic.
Although Hull enjoyed occasional chances on the counter, Arsene Wenger’s men continued to dominate the first half at the Emirates Stadium, with Theo Walcott also going close.
The pattern continued in the second half, with Walcott and Alex Iwobi both threatening before Joel Campbell saw a free kick tipped onto the post.
Jakupovic produced another excellent save soon afterwards to keep out a deflected Welbeck strike before the England international was replaced, along with Campbell, as Wenger brought on Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arsenal’s final substitute, flashed a shot wide in the 87th minute and Sanchez saw a free kick saved in injury time as Hull held on to secure a replay at the KC Stadium.
