OONI BLESSES THE FIRST AFRICAN SOLO PILOT TO FLY ROUND THE WORLD IN WASHINGTON DC

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, during his visit to the United States performed historic function has he unveil a Nigerian, Captain Ademilola Odujinrin as first African to undertake Solo flight round the world.

A press statement by Oba Ogunwusi’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare said the frontline traditional ruler blessed Odujinrin on Sunday 26th June 2016 at Dulles Airport Washington DC in USA.
The event which was tagged “One man, One plane, One world” was organized by two US based companies Transcend Ltd and Landmark Aviation in honour of the African topmost monarch to climax the activities making his 3week impactful visit to the United States started with a welcome address by project director Mr Oladipo Ani-Mumuney who was delighted to have the royal presence of the king  and his large entourage to flag off the historic take off of the first African Solo Flight round the world.
“Your Majesty, we are delighted you have graced us today and humbled by your royal presence as the traditional leader of Yoruba nation and indeed the black race. We greet you again Your Imperial Majesty”, said Ani-Mumuney.
He explained that supported by the company, Captain Odujinrin the solo pilot has incubated this dream for over ten years to fly solo around the world and such be the first African to do so with a mission to inspire and motivate the youth in the continent and those in diaspora indicating that Nigeria as a nation is most ready for change in every sense of the world.
Oba Ogunwusi while blessing the the solo pilot described Nigeria as a fortunate country with great people capable of changing Africa for better as there is one Nigerian out of every four black people on earth.
He said: “There is one Nigerian out of every four black people on earth. We are a great nation with great men like Adedamilola Odujinrin who are capable to change Africa for better.  For me, it is a great history for us in Nigeria that Africa has only one out of about 114 solo pilots in the world and the only is a Nigerian.
“These are good things that we should showcase to the world that indeed positive things can come out of Nigeria. Let us celebrate good things like this coming out of Nigeria and let us live together in peace and harmony to get our focus right as a people capable of leading the world”.
In his goodwill message on behalf of Nigerian pilots, Captain Dapo Majekodunmi congratulated Ooni Ogunwusi as a lucky man of history whose historic visit to the USA will leave a lifetime impact on the lives of African-American and all the blacks living in the country especially Nigeria.
He described Sunday June 26 2016 as a tremendous history that is about to enter the world guinness book of records which is the dawn of a great achievement the African aviation industry and charged Captain Odujinrin to display total professionalism throughout the solo flight period and fly within the scope of safety.
“Kabiyesi, your being here today as the Special Guest of Honour to flag off this ceremony is an indication that you are a very lucky man as today marks a tremendous history that is about to enter the world record to have one of our own in this great endeavour of flying round the world with a single engine aircraft and I wish I had a courage of doing it when I was in his age. Am sure all pilots in Nigerian aviation will be very proud of Lola Odujinrin”.
The solo pilot, Captain Odujinrin on his own admitted that Nigeria indeed has great potentials to rule the world but only need an enabling environment to showcase her potentials.
He also appreciated Ooni Ogunwusi for being a father committed to developing the needed environment especially for the African youth very evident in his progressive activities since he became the Ooni of Ife and Spiritual leader of the entire black race.
“Kabiyesi, I totally agreed with Your Majesty that Nigeria is truly a great country with men and women who can make things happen in the world, all we need is an environment to showcase our potentials and you are already working in that direction. The world is seeing what you are doing and the world will soon appreciate your efforts that will surely help in developing an environment that will help the youth grow”.
He concluded by thanking the Arole Oodua for bringing Nigeria to Dulles Airport in Washington DC.
