Osun: Parliamentarians Pass Vote Of No Confidence On Olorunda LCDA Chair, Owonikoko

Lawmakers of Olorunda North Local Council Development Area, Osun state have passed a vote of no confidence on the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Hon Qadri Owonikoko.

The parliamentarians reached the decision at their sitting today alleging the chairman of corruption, high handedness and other related offenses.

The decision was endorsed by all the lawmakers led by Hon Mumini Omidiran, Hon Sakirat Adeoye, deputy leader, Hon Ajisebiyawo Abiodun, Hon Olalekan Lawal, Hon Racheal Titilope, Hon John Olawale and Hon Ismaila Olayinka.

The development comes with the setup of an investigative panel by the council lawmakers on allegations of misconduct levelled against him coupled with issues of mis-governance.

A statement from the Olorunda North LCDA parliamentarians said that Hon Owonikoko “runs the administration of Olorunda North LCDA (as one man buisness) in contrary to the enabling law, the Guidelines for Administration of Local Governement Areas, Local Council Development Areas, Area Councils And Administrative Offices in the state of Osun.”

“Hon Qodri Ademola Owonikoko spends the resources of Olorunda North LCDA without approval of the council to Section 2.0 (2.2.2) (11), (IV).”

“The poor culture of governance of Hon Qodri Ademola Owonikoko is devoid of Accountability and Transparency.”

The offenses according to the lawmakers contravene the guidelines for the administration of the third tier of government in Osun state.

The parliamentarians of Olorunda North LCDA urged members of the public to disassociate from engaging Hon Owonikoko in matters relating to the administration of the council till the panel led by the Deputy Leader, Hon Sakirat Adeoye concludes its investigations into the matter.

Speaking with CityMirrorNews, the Chairman of Olorunda North LCDA, Hon Qodri Owonikoko said he is unaware of the issue.

In a conversation with our reporter, Owonikoko maintained that he is yet to be invited to clear his name or aware of the allegations of misconduct levelled against him by the parliamentarians of the council.
