Ara Community Denounces Protest Over Alara Chieftaincy Stool

Published

Some ruling houses contesting to occupy the vacant stool of Alara of Ara in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State have dissociated themselves from the protest staged over the processes to fill the stool.

The bonafide ruling houses described the protest as illegal and unneccesary.

A statement jointly issued and signed by all the ruling houses, copy of which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo said that those behind the protest are miscreants who origin could not be traced and not known in the ancient town.

While stating that those behind the protest are foreigners who known next to nothing about Ara Chieftaincy history and tradition, the ruling houses noted that the protest was meant to cause chaos and mislead unsuspecting members of the public including stakeholders on Chieftaincy matters.

The statement said, “we wonder how the people who do not belong to any of the ruling houses neither do they have any stake in the chieftaincy processes, are now crying fowl through an illegal protest in support of a foreigner and an impostor.

According to the release, the hoodlums are incurably infected with huge ignorance, otherwise how can any civilised people go on protest over a matter pending in the court of law.

The release went further that the impostor who is desperate to forge his way through and his co travellers in criminality, should aware that there is no ignorance in law.

While commending the people’s governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for his amiability, meekness, level headedness and transparency especially in recognising the fact that the said Alara Chieftaincy case is pending in the high court sitting in Ejigbo after an injunction granted on the third day of October 2019 by justice A A Aderibigbe of Ejigbo high court, ordering all parties in the chieftaincy matter to maintain the status qou anti bellum until the case is determined.

It would be recalled that both the installers of one foreigner known as Iwindapo and Iwindapo himself, on 28th January 2019, contravained section 21 of the chiefs law of Osun state 2002 over the illegal installation and thereby liable to two years jail if found guilty

It is therefore unfortunate to note that the said Iwindapo since January had been taking laws into his hands, taking Government leniency for granted by parading himself as Oba elect while selection process is still ongoing.

According to the release ” we the bonafide indigines of Ara who are the real owners of Ara stool remain law abiding……

“We are therefore calling on Osun state government to call the miscreants to order to avoid avoidable crises in the ancient town.
