Asa Day: Cultural Troupes Storm Ipetumodu, Celebrate Coronation Of New Monarch



The ancient town of Ipetumodu in Ife-North local government area of the state of Osun played host to various cultural organizations and troupes on the occasion of Royal day celebrations.

The celebration held at Ipetumodu town hall was a prelude to the coronation and official installation of Oba Joseph Olugbenga Oloyede as the new Apetu of Ipetumodu.

The epoch making event graced by who is who within and outside Ipetumodu was a fallout of the Asa day celebration initiated by Comrade Aderinwale A Omolojuolodumare the chairman Forum of community development Sport, Culture and Information Practitioners of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter.

In her welcome address the convener of the Royal DAY CELEBRATION in Ipetumodu, Princess Omotoyosi Adedeji Adetuberu thanked all the stakeholders in Ipetumodu for making the programme came to reality.

Princess Omotoyosi also expressed gratitude to Chairman FCDIP Osun Chapter Comrade pastor Adegboyega Aderinwale Omolojuolodumare, Chairman Ipetumodu coronation ceremony Elder Femi Olajide and the High chiefs of the ancient town for their unalloyed support for the epoch making ceremony to see the light of the day.

In his lecture entitled ‘IRAN YORUBA,Chief Oyetunde Oyesiji the Executive Secretary of Osun State Art and Culture stressed that Yoruba norms,culture and traditions are being eroded as a result of western civilization which has kicked the Yoruba race in the face.

Chief Oyesiji therefore called on all the stakeholders and custodian of culture and traditional to wake up from their slumber and put things in the right perspective.

Olori Oba Joseph Olugbenga Oloyede was part of the mammoth crowd that filled Ipetumodu town hall to capacity during the artistic display of the various cultural troupes that graced the event which will linger in the memories of sons and daughters of the ancient town that witnessed it for a longer-term.

Some of the cultural troupes that present at the glorious occasion includes Funmi Onijo Oba from Afin Adimula in Ile Ife,cultural group from Local Authority High school Okooko Ipetumodu,Origbo community high school and Apostolic Middle School Ipetumodu among others.

Earlier in his speech the chairman Ipetumodu Progress Union showered encomium on the organisers of the event and pledged the unalloyed support of Apetu in council to the all important Royal Day Celebration Annually.
