A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, Hon Sunday Akere has congratulated Dr John Kayode Fayemi on his victory as the Governor-elect of Ekiti state in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state.

Hon. Sunday Akere

Dr Kayode Fayemi emerged winner in the election by polling 197,459 votes to defeat his closest rival Prof Olusola Eleka of the PDP who polled 178, 121 votes to come second in the contest.

In the congratulatory message, Oluomo Akere said the victory of Dr Fayemi is nothing but a clear reversal of his colossal loss in the controversial election of 2014 and a reflection of the fact that with determination, focus and doggedness nothing is impossible to achieve.

“By the victory you have clearly demonstrated to the whole world that you have learnt the tricks and taken into the heart what Ekiti people required to move them to the next level. While the much flaunted stomach infrastructure is necessary, Ekiti State is renowned as the Fountain knowledge where leaders are expected to exhibit the best of conducts, respect for elders/human dignity and portray the best in character ” he added.

While making allusion to the claims of those that called Dr Fayemi “customer daada ” on his emergence as APC flagbearer, Oluomo Akere said it is now clear to them that the monkey has no special skill outside the fact that it was only the closeness of available trees that makes him think he is a star.

Oluomo Akere then congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for believing in the ability of Dr Fayemi to deliver and allowing for a free, fair, credible and transparent election in which the spirit of one man, one vote prevailed.

He also congratulated the former National Chairman of APC Chief Odigie Oyegun for supretending over a party system that assisted in throwing up the most popular candidate without recourse to any manipulation. And also congratulated the new Chairman Comrade Adam Oshiomole for the victory while appealing to him to listen to the voice of the majority in Osun APC flagbearer selection.

Finally, to those referring to Ekiti election as a “see and buy election “, Oluomo Akere concluded that Yorubas are not fools and they will only buy what they think they like while no amount of money will buy their conscience and resolve.
