The Action Democratic Party, ADP, Plateau state Chapter has denied allegation of sponsorship of its gubernatorial candidate, General Jon Temlong by Rt Hon Simon Lalong made by the state Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Hon TD Sango.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Hon Danjuma Auta, a copy which was made available to CityMirrorNews, said it was unfortunate that the PDP Chairman who has been hobnobbing with the state government could be making such ‘frivolous allegation’.
Sango had alleged that Gov Lalong was sponsoring ADP’s candidate, General Temlong with a view to, ‘weaken the electoral strength of his candidate. He noted that, ADP has earned for itself considerable reputation and credibility in the state because of its uncommon commitment to deepening democratic ethos and practices.
The statement reads:
“The attention of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has been drawn to a puerile claim by the State Chairman of PDP, Hon DT Sango that our gubernatorial candidate, General Jon Temlong is being sponsored by Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to weaken the electoral strength of his candidate. We would not have dignified him with a response but for the fact that his fraternity and hobnobbing with Governor Lalong is common knowledge yet he is the one making this frivolous allegation that calls for an urgent rebuttal. The ADP has earned for itself considerable reputation and credibility in the state because of its uncommon commitment to deepening democratic ethos and practices.
“The Plateau First philosophy of the Party has enhanced its popularity rating and has made it eclipse the APC and PDP. The candidate of the party, Gen. Jon Temlong and his able running mate, Dr. Daniel Mwanmut whose integrity is unquestionable and cannot be matched by any of the candidates of other political parties in the state is the team to beat in the forthcoming Governorship election. For the avoidance of doubt, Gen Temlong was motivated to join the race partly because of the below average performance of the APC Governor in the state. It is therefore unimaginable that Lalong would deliberately sponsor a candidate to unseat himself.
“We urge our teeming supporters to continue with the state wide mobilzation to get our candidate elected as the next Governor of Plateau State. Hon Sango should focus on the internal crises of his party rather than prying into the affairs of our hopeful party. ADP is determined to vanquish PDP and APC in the Governorship contest in the state.
