Bandits Overpowering Us In Oyo Forests, Vigilante Group Raises Alarm
The Oyo State Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in all the 33 local government areas of the state, Wednesday, raised the alarm over the influx of bandits with weapons into forests in the South-West states.
The group said the failure of the governors in the region to equip its members could cause a setback in the fight against bandits.
Speaking at a press conference, Wednesday, the state commandant of VGN, Ogunmakin Moses, said his men were suffering despite their commitment to the security of lives and property in the state.
He said the edict that set up the VGN empowered its members to use sophisticated weapons and urged the state government to act before it would be too late.
He requested a return of the outfit to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, increment in monthly stipend, procurement of sophisticated weapons and provision of vehicle and motorcycle for efficient patrol.
