The Forum of Nigeria Polytechnic Alumni Association ( FONPAA) has reiterated its efforts to ensure the aging dichotomy between the Polytechnic and University graduates is abolished.

This was disclosed by FONPAA National Chairman, Chief Obialor Ibebuike Sunday during the Quarterly Conference hosted by the Federal Polytechnic Offa Alumni Association.

Chief Obialor disclosed that, over the years, the Forum of Polytechnic Alumni Association had recorded remarkable achievements including the production of alumni representatives t the governing council level of various Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria.

He further emphasized the need to succeed as an alumni forum to develop Polytechnic education in Nigeria.

Speaking on discrimination between the Polytechnic and University graduates, He noted the efforts of the forum to ensure that the bill is passed by both Senate and House of Representatives. He, therefore, urged the alumni association of different Polytechnics in Nigeria to be up and doing to ensure the bill is signed by the President.

According to him, “Whatever it will take us to make sure that we can succeed, we will do it because that is the best for the country and the Polytechnic education in Nigeria. If we can see that the bill assents, then we would now say that Polytechnic institutions and technology education have started in this country.”

Also speaking, the host and President of FEDPOFFA Alumni Association, Dr. Ayo Adeyemi appreciated and welcomed FONPAA members to the Federal Polytechnic Offa. He emphasized the need to celebrate Polytechnic graduates, adding that the Federal Polytechnic Offa had produced graduates making waves in both government and private sectors.

He said “We have good products from this institution and it is our pride, not only for our Polytechnic in general. We want to celebrate polytechnic products so people will not feel that only University graduates are doing well.”

The Chief host and Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi commended the efforts of the FEDPOFFA Alumni President and executive members for organizing the conference. He charged the Forum of Nigeria Polytechnic Alumni Association to continue to champion the course towards the eradication of dichotomy and discrimination against Polytechnic education in Nigeria.
