The Olowu of Kuta, Oba Oyelude Makama, has charged traditional rulers in the country and southwest in particular to be ambassadors of tourism promotion as custodians of culture and traditions of their respective communities.
Oba Makama who gave the charge during the annual celebration of Anlugbua festival in the ancient town of Owu Kuta posited that any traditional ruler in the southwestern part of the country that runs away from culture and traditions is misfits.
The monarch urged the traditional rulers to play active role in marketing tourism potential in their various communities to the world, saying that as custodians of the culture and tradition of the people, royal fathers should be at the forefront of the state tourism development campaign.
“Any traditional ruler that runs away from culture and traditions is misfit whoever that traditional ruler is in the south west, we were enthroned to maintain and uphold culture and traditions only that is what is in the instrument of the appointment, that the government gave traditional ruler in the south west.
“We are different from the Emirates in the North so if you see any traditional ruler in the south west that is running away from tradition that traditional ruler is misfit, he has digressed from his core mandate.” He posited.
Speaking on the significance of Anlugbua festival, Oba Makama described Akindele Anlugbua as their progenitor and the founder of Owu saying all the sons and daughters of the town celebrate him every year.
“We expect rapid transformation because this is a celebration we can even turn to cultural tourism, we are looking towards UNESCO adopting it, we are looking towards federal ministry of culture to adopt it because we truly have what it takes to show case. This is a natural something and when you hear what they call an organic this is an organic.
Alot of anthropologist have been here.
What we didn’t allow them doing is excavation but they’ve done alot of tests and very soon you’ll see UNESCO hand here.
He said they were at the Anlugbua groove to pray for the success of the new governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke as well as the peaceful conduct of the coming general elections.
“The highlight of the even is that, we were at the Anlugbua groove where Anlugbua descended below earth by him self then we prayed for peaceful 2023 general election and we prayed for peace in Nigeria and in Osun State and we prayed for devine intervention for our new government in Osun State, we want God and our ancestors to guide him to lead us aright and we want God to guide him because we want him to succeed.
“You can be rest assured that we’ll continue to advice our dear governor on how to leverage on tourism so that we can have financial benefits to our dear state not only on mineral resources, we generate forex through culture tourism we cultural tourism we can generate forex.
