The dust is yet to settle regarding the mode of selecting candidates of the APC for the forthcoming Osun LGA poll, as some chairmanship aspirants in Olorunda North have yet again kicked against a consensus arrangement.

Some of the chairmanship hopefuls including the incumbent Vice Chairman of Olorunda North, Hon. Sakirat Adeoye, as well as front-line politician and enterpreneur, Prince Adeshina Olasupo, have continued to reject any idea of shutting out some aspirants, speaking vehemently against picking a consensus candidate.

In the last few days, these two chairmanship contestants have continued to appeal for support for their aspirations, foreclosing the possibility of withdrawing for a possible consensus candidate to emerge.

According to information from a reliable source, some influential persons, who are allegedly seeking to foist an unpopular chairmanship aspirant on APC members in Olorunda North, have now resorted to throwing up a fathom zoning agreement in a bid to sideline Hon. Sakirat Adeoye and Prince Adeshina Olasupo.

The proponents of this zoning formula have said that Oba-Ile, the hometown of Hon. Adeoye, cannot produce the next chairman of Olorunda North due to an earlier agreement by party stakeholders to rotate power among major towns in the LCDA.

Responding to this claim, the spokesman of Hon. Adeoye Campaign Organization, Sanusi Olayemi, has described the said rotational agreement as a ruse and figment of the imagination of those who are scared of a primary election to select the APC chairmanship candidate in Olorunda North.

According to Sanusi Olayemi, the choice of a free and fair primary election has not gone down well with some prominent individuals in Olorunda North APC, who are asking that the party leadership pick their anointed aspirant as flag-bearer. He further alleged that out of desperation, these promoters of consensus arrangement have continued to devise various tactics to achieve their unpopular goal.

While some of the aspirants have reluctantly accepted the consensus decision, those displeased have called for the conduct of an election for all aspirants to test their popularity so that the party can be certain that it is presenting a popular candidate for the forthcoming Osun local government poll.

Hon. Sakirat Adeoye, who is the only female aspirant In the race, has repeatedly said she is gearing up for the primary as she is not contemplating a situation where she will step down for any individual. She has also appealed that the party leadership in Olorunda North provide a level playing ground for all members vying for the chairmanship ticket of the APC.
