UNIOSUN has emerged as one of the few universities in Nigeria that will serve as host institution for the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Programme (CADFP) in 2023.

This feat follows the success of the two applications packaged by the UNIOSUN’s Office of Research and Innovation Management in September 2022.

Apart from the quality of the applications, the growing reputation of UNIOSUN as a centre of academic excellence and a major beneficiary of a growing list of international and local research grants coupled with its stable academic calendar contributed in no small measure to the success of this application.

Underscoring the significance of the CADFP, Sharon Witherell, the Director of Public Affairs at the Institute of International Education, advised beneficiary institutions to publicize the CADFP grant in the local media, relevant websites, newsletters and magazines as well as in the social media because according to Witherell, publicizing the work of the CADFP is ‘an important part of the Fellowship program’s goal of facilitating equitable, effective and mutually beneficial international higher education engagements between scholars in Africa and African Diaspora academics.’

For this great achievement, the University has selected two high-profile researchers, Dr. Omolola Ologunorisa and Dr. Consoler Teboh as Visiting Fellows under this programme.

As the University earnestly awaits the arrival of Dr. Omolola Ologunorisa and Dr. Consoler Teboh, it is hoped that their stays will further facilitate more intellectually stimulating international partnerships that would foster UNIOSUN’s human capacity development, boost the university’s international visibility and promote research.
