UNIOSUN Alumni Felicitate With Prof Adebooye As 4th VC

The Osun State University Alumni Association has congratulated Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye on his appointment as the substantive 4th Vice Chancellor of the prestigious University of Osun State (UNIOSUN).

It described his appointment as well-earned reward for hard work and consistency.

Prof Adebooye officially mounted the saddled of leadership as the substantive VC following his announcement by the Governing Council of the institution under the leadership of its Chairman, Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN on Monday, 3rd of January.

He was appointed 4th substantive Vice Chancellor following the approval of the visitor to the university, Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

In a statement release on Tuesday, the alumuni Association National President, Comrade Oriola Oladipupo Kabir, and made available to newsmen,in Osogbo, noted that the organisation is delighted with Prof Adebooye’s appointment, adding that he is an erudite scholar, an academic colossus and an achiever per excellence.

Oriola stated that the country’s education sector is undoubtedly facing many challenges, such as inadequate funding and facilities, and stressed that Professor Adebooye appointment is a call to serve and help transform education, not only at the university but in the country by extension.

While insisting that Prof Adebooye appointment would have a profound impact on the university, Oriola stated that the alumni have implicit confidence in his ability to do this and more.

Listing out his educational qualifications, the statement pointed out that he has passed through the right training and grown through the ranks, which has adequately equipped him for his current position.

The Association appreciated the Senate, Management and the entire Staff of the University for their selflessness, just as it pledged its unalloyed support for the VC.

The alumni however appreciated the Council Chairman, Mallam Yusuff Alli for the way and manner he handled the matter from the selection stage to the time the substantive VC emerged .

The Association also gave kudos to Mallam Yusuff Alli, saying they love the way he has been managing the affairs of the university.

Born on 18th December 1966 Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye is a professor of Plant Physiology with an academic career spanning 26 years during which he served the UNIOSUN at various times as a member of the Governing Council, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Provost/Dean, Director and Head of Department among others.

At the international level, he had served as Ambassador Scientist for the German Government Humboldt Foundation, Secretary-General of the African-German Network Excellence in Science (AGNES) and Regional Project Coordinator for the Government of Canada Projects in West Africa. He has been Visiting Professor at many universities in Nigeria, Germany, Canada and provided services for the United Nations.

He has utilized nine (9)fully-funded international research fellowships worldwide including the highly prestigious United Nations University Fellowship, Germany and won 25 research grants with over 100 travel grants.
