The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi on Sunday, promised to deliver 90,000 votes to governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.

He made the pledge in his palace during an Inter-religious Prayer he organized for the victory of the governor in the coming election.

The monarch disclosed that he is organizing the prayer to ensure the victory of the governor in the gubernatorial election.

He maintained that his mission is to see an indegene of the town become the next governor of the state after the second term of the incumbent governor.

He said: “I have a dream and a mission and my dream is for this place to produce the state governor come 2026. This governor has done his own. I want to use this as a prayer point for Iwo to produce the next governor in 2026.

“I will deliver my bloc votes for Oyotala. I’m declaring for him and I’m also calling on the people of Iwo to go and give their block votes to Oyetola. We must give at least, 90 thousand votes to Oyetola from Iwo. We are registering more but right now, we have over 90 thousands votes and I want all of them to go to Oyetola.

“We have to give our vote to Oyetola for the future of Iwo. We are not voting for Oyetola but the future of Iwo to have a chance at governorship. We’ve never had it and we want to have it in 2026.

“There is no party can give us that than APC because if Oyetola gets his second term, it will be our turn after he leave office. If we are able to use our vote to speak out, then we can beat our chest and will be able to say it’s our turn, and you should give it to us. That time, we will be vindicated”.

The representative of the governor, Mrs. Lateefat Giwa in her own words said the gesture of the monarch will go a long way in giving the party victory.

Also speaking, the special assistant to the Governor on Political, Khalid Debo, chairman of APC Iwo, enginer Olaniyi Lasun and the State secretary of APC, Mr kamoru Alao who spoke separately during the organised prayers for Oyetola said victory is already sure for a man they said has done creditably well in all areas of infrastructural development in the state

They were on the opinion that with the number of supporters so far received especially those who recently decamped from other opposition parties, the victory is already assured just as they enjoined those who has not collected their PVCs to do so in order to participate in the voting exercise.

They however are not urged the traditional Ruler to appeal to those who have left the party either due to one grievances or the other to come back to a united party for over all interest of winning the election.
