The Special Adviser to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Youths and Sports, Hon Adegboyega Adelabu Aremo , has charged eligible voters in the state to avail themselves for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Aremo gave the charge while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on Wednesday.

The SA commended the innovation of INEC, saying it will inspire citizens to register based on the introduction of pre-enrollment via INEC’s CVR online portal from June 28, 2021.

While emphasizing the need for eligible citizens to explore the registration opportunity, the Osogbo born politician said the exercise would allow more residents of the state, of voting age, to participate in the coming gubernatorial election and the general elections.

He said due to the tremendous performance of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, many eligible citizens of the state of voting age, who did not have the opportunity to vote during the last gubernatorial election, have been waiting for this opportunity to come so they can appreciate the governor with their votes .

“This will be the first time in Nigeria’s electoral process where citizens can commence their voter’s registration from their individual spaces of comfort.

“Citizens who complete their pre-enrollment in the online portal will choose an appointment date for their biometric physical capture, which will commence from 19 July 2021 at INEC offices in the States and Local Government Areas (LGAs).

“With the proposals for more technology to be deployed in Nigeria’s election, this CVR process presents an opportunity for the accurate capture of voters’ data and biometrics. It also creates an opportunity for more eligible voters to commence their registration with ease and hopefully reduce the pressure at the physical centers.

“Voters registration remains a critical exercise in the electoral process as it is the first determinant of who gets to vote in Nigeria.

“The exercise will give those people who wanted to appreciate Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s tremendous performance through their votes opportunity to do so.

“Oyetola has achieved immensely and we need to appreciate him with our votes and the only way to achieve that is to take the advantage of the registration and ensure we come out en mass to caste our votes for hm comes 2022.” he said
