No fewer than 150 prospective beneficiaries of Ilerioluwa Osogbo Jamb Scholarship were today, screened as part of the build-up to sponsoring them.

The beneficiaries who were SSCE holders living in Osogbo and environs were screened in order to qualify for the UTME sponsorship.

The screening exercise, which was held at Ilerioluwa Campaign Office had in attendance, stakeholders and party stalwarts.

According to the Leader of all Ilerioluwa groups in Osogbo Local Government, Hon. Wale Popoola, “The programme is a support  to one of the visions of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola  to provide quality education and as well engage youths meaningfully to ensure they are leaders of tomorrow.”

The screening committee was chaired by a renowned scholar, Alh. Toyin Yusuff, and other reputable members. They include SSA on Special Duties, Hon Samson Owoyokun,  Former Council Secretary, Hon Owolanwi, Balogun Olamide and a successful entrepreneur and education administrator, Miss Monsurat Oyedeji.

According to the Chairman of the screening committee, “It was realised the that best way to be assured of real impact is to ascertain the status of each beneficiary in relation to the intellectual demands of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s examination through assessment of their ordinary level results among others.

“The screening also accommodated the new policies   announced by the examination body, while the candidates were put to proficiency test.”

Honourable Commissioner for Integration and Special Duties, Olalekan Badmus, who also paid a visit to the center, noted that it was a great privilege to be able to support Mr Governor’s stance on youths’ engagement through different means.

The Commissioner also added that the initiative would narrow down the wide gap of those willing to get a chance at education.

He said, “Many people really wished they had the opportunity of going to school but due to certain constraints that might emanate from finances, poor orientation or lack of it and many others, they are unable to. Mr. Governor has done well for harping on engaging our youths and that is how Ilerioluwa Osogbo is replicating such commitment.”
