IP Institute To Induct Professionals As Fellows

The Intellectual Property Institute of Nigeria has disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to induct professionals who have made contributions to the growth and development of intellectual property in Nigeria as Fellows

The Head of Administration of the institute, Mr. Femi Sedemogun said the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho and seven others would be conferred with the rank of Fellows of the institute.

Sedemogun said two Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau and Nureini Jimoh are among the personalities that would be inducted.

Others include the Hon. Registrar of Trademarks, Ms. Anne Adeleye and Hon. Registrar of Patents and Designs, Stella Ezenduka. Others are Mr. Calixthus Okoruwa, Dr. Adamu Lawal and Mr. Ezenwa Anumnu

Sedemogun said the induction of the Fellows will take place at the Nigerian National Merit Awards House, Maitama, Abuja on the 2nd of December 2021.

He said “it is imperative to recognise the men and women who are working tirelessly in an area that is still largely underutilised in Nigeria. This is because IP is the springboard for innovation and if not carefully harnessed, will see to the decline of investors in the innovative space.

“Intellectual Property is the oil of the 21st century and it takes good effort to cultivate it which is why these distinguished men and women are being recognised for the tremendous strides they have made in their various fields.”

“The fellows to be inducted include; Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, Chief Judge, Federal High Court, Yakubu Chokono Maikyau SAN, Ezenwa Anumnu Esq, Nureini Jimoh, SAN, Calixthus Okoruwa, CEO XLR8 LTD, etc”

“Along with this induction, the Institute will be the presenting Innovation awards to Nigerian Creators. The Intellectual Property Institute Nigeria is responsible for the promotion of IP innovation, research and advocacy in Nigeria”, he said.
